Who was Buddha?
Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, was born into a royal family in the present-day Nepal over 2500 years ago.

Buddha set out to understand the cause of suffering in life, and the nature of reality. Buddha came to realize that nothing in life is permanent and all things fall apart.  There is suffering because human beings crave for a healthy, disease-free body, youth, love, and money.  Change and decay cause anxiety and suffering.  But there is hope. Liberation from the  cycle of birth and death (Nirvana) can be attained by focusing our attention on the reality, i.e, that there is emptiness at the core of the phenomenal world. This reality can be grasped by Mindfulness meditation, and by disregard of the self.
