Wordsworth, the English poet, said: ” the world is too much with us.” We are always in a rush, never slowing down to savor the fresh air or the warmth of the spring sun. However, reading poetry is like the slowing down of time. Poetry delights us, makes us sad, or brings back a memory long lost to time. Writing poetry is not the same as writing fiction or prose–it comes in flashes–not like, I am going to finish a poem before 1 P.M. Different people like different poets. But great poetry strikes a common chord in us all.
